Cambridge's graffiti removal program involves a cooperative effort between Public Works, the Police Department, residents, and property owners.

Once the graffiti is reported, an inspector from Public Works is sent out to examine the damage and to schedule cleaning on City property. If it is determined that Public Works can safely and effectively remove graffiti on private property, the City will do so upon receipt of a signed waiver from the property owner.

Because graffiti removal equipment cannot be used in cold weather, all requests received mid November - March will be removed the following spring. Even in cold weather, obscene or offensive tags will be immediately painted over until removal can be scheduled.
